Description

RailwayCare LDZ-36 Overview

The RailwayCare LDZ-36 Rail Drill is a purpose-built handheld rail drill optimized for rapid, low-effort hole creation during routine inspection, minor repairs, and emergency response operations.

Unlike the clamped DMS-100, the LDZ-36 employs a lightweight aluminum alloy chassis with a reinforced steel drive housing, reducing total mass to ≤12.5 kg (including battery). This enables one-person operation—even in confined areas such as switch machines or tunnel walkways—without requiring auxiliary lifting equipment.

Its universal 72V lithium battery (18.2 Ah) interfaces directly with other RailwayCare power tools (e.g., angle grinders, straight grinders, electric torque wrenches), simplifying fleet logistics and reducing spare battery inventory.

The brushless internal rotor motor delivers consistent torque across four electronically controlled speed ranges (displayed on an LCD screen), allowing operators to select optimal RPM for:
  ●   φ9.8–16 mm: high-speed cutting (up to 380 r/min)
  ●   φ20–31 mm: low-speed, high-torque drilling (down to 15 r/min)

A keyless self-tightening chuck secures bits without tools in ≤3 seconds. For improved accuracy, an optional laser pointer module mounts to the drill head, projecting a crosshair onto the rail surface for rapid horizontal alignment. Vertical positioning is assisted by a foldable support arm with integrated bubble level.

The unit meets IP53 protection against dust and light water spray, and has been validated for reliable operation from –15 °C to +45 °C. With a single charge, it can complete up to 148 φ9.8 mm holes or 64 φ31 mm holes, supporting extended shift work without recharging.

This drill fills the niche between manual hand drills and heavy-duty clamped systems—offering speed, portability, and interoperability where agility matters most.

RailwayCare LDZ-36 Key Features

⚪  It is powered by a universal battery pack, which can also supply energy to other tools such as angle grinders, straight grinders, and electric wrenches.
⚪  Equipped with a brushless motor, the tool features a low failure rate and eliminates the need for carbon brush replacement.
⚪  Capable of drilling rails of various types and profiles.
