Unlike conventional single-cavity molds, this patented dual-layer mold assembly integrates two functionally coordinated zones within a single tooling system to achieve superior compaction uniformity, density control, and dimensional accuracy during the wheel forming process.
Technical Innovation
The core innovation lies in the mold’s two-tier pressure distribution mechanism:
The outer layer cavity is optimized for shaping the working face of the grinding wheel, ensuring precise profile conformity (e.g., for rail head contouring);
The inner support layer cavity features a reinforced base structure with controlled venting channels that facilitate even resin flow and gas escape during curing.
This dual-layer configuration enables gradient compaction: higher pressure is applied to the abrasive-rich outer zone for maximum cutting efficiency, while the inner core receives balanced pressure to maintain structural integrity—without causing internal stress cracks or delamination.
Additionally, the mold incorporates:
Precision alignment pins and thermal expansion compensation gaps;
Quick-release mechanisms for efficient demolding;
